I grew up in Ohio, went to West Point for college, and then spent a little over 35 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Lieutenant General. Over those 35 years, I spent about 16 living and working outside the United States. In my final assignment I served as the Deputy Commander of U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany.

Throughout my time in the military I was fortunate to see and experience things that, as a kid, I never imagined I would encounter. A few years ago I decided to try to capture some of those observations as well as thoughts on contemporary events in short videos and articles. The views reflected in these are shaped by my personal experience and bias, and you may agree with some and disagree with others.

None of this is earth‑shattering or revelational, but I hope that you will find some of these to be interesting.

Since departing the military I have focused on three areas: Starting a nonprofit designed to enable all public school students to achieve a living wage career, co-founding a software company designed to develop tools that help you learn and leverage the digital world, and building an immersive holodeck-like room where I can experience places I cannot physically visit.
